YouTuber Edmunds Cars has shared a video from a dramatic drag strip showdown between an all-electric Ioniq 5 N crossover and the BMW M4. The drivers had to reach the finish line, turn around and race back to the start, so it wasn’t yet another predictable EV acceleration ad.
Starting with the favorite of the race, the Ioniq 5 N packs two motors pushing 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. Its rival, the pre-facelift M4 Competition, commands a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
Watch the video. Spoiler alert: if you think the M4 will easily outmaneuver the electric Hyundai with its heavy battery pack, you are in for a nasty surprise.
