IM LS7 spawns a 705-km "Max" version in China

The all-electric SUV known as the IM LS7 is now available to pre-order in a new version called Max. The unveiling took place at an auto show in Chongqing, Car News China reports.

The buyers can choose between two trim levels called Elite and Lux. It is still 5,049 mm long, 2,002 mm wide and 1,763 mm tall with 3,060 mm between the axles, but the interior has been revamped with added “intelligent” features. These include a dash display trio sized 26.3, 15.5 and 12.8 inches large, as well as a yoke-shaped steering wheel.

A smart assist package running on Nvidia Orin X chipset uses two LiDARs, 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 3 millimeter-range radars for self-driving features. The manufacturer promises to release an update for it in Q3 that would eliminate the need for the autopilot to rely on highly detailed maps.

When not in use, the front passenger seat can be folded down and pushed to the front, freeing up more legroom for the occupant of the rear right seat. It’s a particularly comfortable seat, by the way, with “zero gravity” and other nice features. To the left of it resides a bench seat for two, but you can turn the middle seat into an armrest or a small table.

While the standard LS7 is obtainable with four driven wheels, the LS7 Max goes RWD only with a single electric motor rated at 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. You can go with the standard battery pack and get 640 km (397 miles) out of 90 kilowatt-hours or opt for a larger 100-kWh pack and drive 705 km (438 miles) per charge, CLTC-rated.
