6th-gen Jeep Cherokee announced in the USA

After a several-year hiatus, the Jeep Cherokee is finally returning to the lineup in the United States, although it can be tricky to recognize with all the changes.

The vehicle is 4,778 mm (186.6 inches) long, 2,123 mm (83 in) wide and 1,715 mm (67 in) tall with 2,870 mm (112.1 in) between the axles. The trunk size goes from 952 to 1,934 liters with seats folded (from 33.6 to 68.3 cubic feet). The ground clearance amounts to just 8 inches (200 mm), and the approach/departure angles are somewhat lackluster at 19.6 and 29.4 degrees, respectively. We suppose Jeep could improve some of these parameters in the off-road-focused Trailhawk version.

In its base spec, the new Cherokee is a hybrid powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and two electric motors. Its output maxes out at 213 PS (210 hp / 157 kW) and 312 Nm (230 lb-ft) of torque. Accelerating from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) takes 8.3 seconds. The fuel economy averages at 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers, or 37 MPG, and the OEM-rated range amounts to 800 km or so (500 miles).

The battery pack on board holds as little as 1.08 kWh and isn’t manually chargeable. On the upside, the new Cherokee drives all four wheels by default and has four drive preset including Snow, Sand and Mud.

The exterior looks fairly boxy with a rugged body kit and wheels up to 20 inches large. The cabin is largely identical to that of the Wagoneer S, complete with the squared steering wheel and touchscreens for controls, but at least the dedicated HVAC panel is still there.

Equipment-wise, the off-roader comes with 10.25-inch and 12.3-inch infotainment screens to choose from, heated/ventilated seats, an Alpine audio system and a digital rearview mirror. Eco-friendly materials, most of them recycled, constitute most of the trim.

Sales will begin at the end of 2025. Prices will vary from $38,990 to $47,990, but those looking for a cheaper spec will have to wait until early 2026.
