Kia Niro Tri-Fuel debuts in Italy

The second generation of the Kia Niro crossover is a versatile hybrid SUV as it is, but a special edition for the Italian market sees it running on propane as well.

This new version is called Tri-Fuel and accepts petrol, electricity and condensed natural gas all at once. It utilizes BRC propane hardware and has a 40-liter gas tank mounted under the trunk compartment.

The standard petrol tank retains its full 42 liters (11.1 U.S. gallons) of capacity, so the Niro Tri-Fuel outperforms its bi-fuel counterpart with over 1,600 km (1,000 miles) of available range once full.
