Next-gen LR Discovery shapes up to be a family car

The sales of the latest Land Rover Discovery haven’t been amazing lately, and the competition has grown as strong as ever. Despite this, the company stays resolute about producing another generation – with some major formula changes.

According to Auto Express quoting a JLR executive, the next iteration of the SUV will be a family vehicle. Even more interestingly, it will be targeted towards paying customers.

In all likelihood, this means the model will be get a substantial price bump, increasing the price gap between the Discovery and the Defender even further. Rumor has it that it will be based on the MLA platform. If so, it would gain access to a whole slew of engine options, including electrified.

The older Disco is expected to go into its next generation in three years’ time. Whether there will be a new Discovery Sport as well remains unconfirmed.
