Lexus continues toying with the idea of bringing LFA back

Simultaneously with this week’s Toyota announcement, Lexus has unveiled a supercar prototype that could distill into a spiritual successor to the LFA model made in 2010 through 2012. You may have seen it presented before as the Lexus Sport Concept.

Working on the show coupe, the design team did its best to make it look like its 15-year-old source of inspiration. The air vents all around, the outlines and the interior console all harken back to the original LFA. At the same time, the styling is more modern and in line with the automaker’s current design language.

On the technical side of things, the car shares the platform and the aluminum body structure with the Toyota GR GT introduced at the same event. Both have the same wheelbase of 2,725 mm (106.5 inches). However, while Toyota’s street-legal ride has visible tailpipes in the back, the LFA Concept has none and is being described as an EV.

All other details are unknown. It’s also a good question whether Lexus ever plans to mass-produce these or not.
