London taxi manufacturer introduces an electric luxury van

The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC), a famous taxi cab manufacturer that used to be based in London but is now owned by Geely Group, has partially unveiled its next production model – an all-new electric van named the L380. Car News China believes the name alludes to the Airbus plane to highlight the passenger capacity, because China is envisioned as one of its main destination markets.

The MPV is 5,316 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,940 mm tall with 3,185 mm between the axles. Its curb weight is 2,805 kg (just under 6,200 lbs). The interior offers either six or eight seats depending on the chosen trim level. Once it reaches the market in China, it will have to compete with the likes of the Denza D9, Li Mega, Maxus Mifa 9, Xpeng X9 and Zeekr 009, CNC believes.

The platform underpinning the LEVC L380 is known as the SOA (Space Oriented Architecture) and is essentially based on Geely’s SEA chassis for commercial transports. It receives its torque from a single e-motor designed by Viridi E-Mobility Technology and draws power from an unspecified battery pack produced at the Geely-CATL factory. The motor makes 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and can attain a top speed of 170 km/h (105 mph).

The production will take place at the same factory in China where the TX cabs are currently being made. The availability dates and pricing remain unannounced.
