The one-off Maserati Quattroporte Grand Finale has just been handed over to its buyer, officially ending the production of V8-powered sedans by the Italian marque.
The car has been co-designed with its owner, a major entrepreneur from the United States. It ended up with a sleek carbon-fiber body kit and a Blu Nobile paint coat, as well as precious wood accents and deluxe leather trim in the cabin.
Grand Finale badges all around, an engine lid inscribed with the signatures of the project supervisors and “VIN 999999” visible on the windshield and the driver’s door sum up the styling of Maserati’s last eight-cylinder sedan ever.
The 3.8-liter engine under the hood makes 572 PS (564 hp / 421 kW). The company hasn’t yet commented on whether all Quattroporte production has stopped until the next generation or there are plans to continue it with smaller engines. The model is 10 years old by now, and rumors have been circulating for a while that it was about to retire “soon”. The successor is already in development, but, barring unforeseen circumstances, it will not be obtainable with a V8.
