In case you missed it, UAE-based investor CYVN Holdings acquired British automaker McLaren in 2024.
The same company owns the Nio EV brand in China, which had previously spawned a subsidiary called Forseven in the UK. Thus, Forseven is also technically a part of CYVN Holdings now. It’s a startup firm with an ambition to make all-electric luxury supercars.
Reports are now coming in that the investor plans a restructuring of its assets. As a part of it, Forseven will allegedly make and sell EVs under the McLaren brand.
It’s still too early to speculate what consequences this decision may have for the British marque. For one thing, its vehicle lineup may finally become wide and diverse, something many of us had wanted for a while. For another, we might see the first-ever SUV released under McLaren branding.
