Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe gets two AMG variants

Mercedes has complemented its GLC Coupe lineup with a pair of AMG versions: 43 and 63 SE Performance. Both ditch their traditional V6/V8 engines in favor of four-pots, but still manage to produce more power than the previous AMG generation did.

Starting with the Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe 43, it packs a two-liter turbo engine driven by an electric supercharger for 421 PS (414 hp / 309 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. A starter generator can briefly contribute 14 PS (14 hp / 10 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of its own when needed. The car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds.

The AMG GLC 63 SE Performance uses the same main engine, but boosted to 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW) and 545 Nm (402 lb-ft) of torque. A full-fledged electric motor delivers another 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft). All-electric driving is supported, but limited to just 12 kilometers due to small battery size. In hybrid mode, the new GLC flagship reaches 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.

Default features include 4WS, adaptive suspension with active sway bars, and an aero kit with updated bumpers and grille. Inside, the AMG lineup differentiates itself from standard Mercedes-Benz with sport seats and steering wheel.
