Mitsubishi unveils 2nd-gen Delica D:2 MPV

Like its predecessor, the 2021 Delica D:2 is essentially just a rebadged, redesigned Suzuki Solio that comes electrified by default.

Compared to the previous generation, the new minivan sports new exterior details and badges. At 3,790 mm long, 1,645 mm wide and 1,745 mm tall, it is 80 mm longer and 20 mm wider than before. Like the Suzuki mentioned above, the Delica D:2 comes in two guises called Standard and Custom. The Solio’s Custom trim is called Bandit (watch the video for details).

Inside, rear seats can be moved 165 mm forward or backward, and the backs recline as far as 65 degrees. Trunk size goes up, and Suzuki Safety Support becomes e-Assist in the new version.

Unlike the Solio, which can run on gas alone, the Delica is always a hybrid. Its 1.2-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder has 91 PS (90 hp / 67 kW) and 118 Nm (87 lb-ft) at the crank, and receives help from an electric starter rated at 3.1 PS (3 hp / 2.25 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft). The battery is as small as 3 Ah, and a CVT sends the power to the front wheels of all four, depending on your choice. Rear suspension can be semi-dependent (FWD) or De Dion (AWD).

The production will take place at the same factory where Suzuki pieces together its Solio. Sales have already started at the equivalent of U.S. $18,200 for the Standard and $20,700 for the Custom version.
