New Jaguar spotted on the road with an awkward trunk

Jaguar’s particularly luxurious electric vehicle likely won’t debut anytime soon, but the company has been actively testing it on public streets. These spy shots come to us from Carscoops, and they don’t flatter the image of the once-British brand at all.

Overall, the pre-production vehicle looks styled in the same vein as the Type 00 Concept before it. What really bothers us is the photos with the tailgate lifted. The opening seems comically small and the trunk floor base much too high for practicality. In fact, it is roughly on the same level as the waist of the man standing next to it. Shorter owners might find it difficult to use a trunk like this.

Making matters worse is the fact that there is a solid, opaque panel where the rear window is supposed to be. Relying on cameras for everything isn’t the best call if you ask us. On a brighter note, the headlights look much bigger than those of the Type 00, and give off the impression of a finalized design.

Jaguar has yet to reveal anything about the electric car, but rumors claim it rides on a brand-new platform and has around 700 km (435 miles) of range. An official premiere is likely in late 2025.

This isn’t the first time the battery-powered Jaguar was spotted on the streets. Photographers claimed that they heard a sound similar to that of a V8 engine when it passed by. In all likelihood, the company is developing a fake exhaust module with multiple sound presets to choose from.
