Pininfarina’s first-ever all-electric hypercar name revealed

Hypercar builder Pininfarina will be naming its first fully electric hypercar after Giovanni Battista “Pinin” Farina, the founder of Carrozzeria Pininfarina.

According to the company, it will be “the most powerful Italian car ever created”. It will be driven by four electric motors together capable of 2,000 hp (1,490 kW) and 2,300 Nm (1,696 lbft) of torque, and will offer around 450 km (280 mi) in terms of driving range.

The new Pininfarina Battista will accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in two seconds flat reach 300 km/h (186 mph) in only 12 seconds. Its top speed is being kept secret so far, but should exceed 400 km/h (250 mph) according to official sources. The wild acceleration dynamics will certainly benefit from the fact that the car will ship with a new active rear wing and an adjustable diffusor even in the most basic trim.

Sales of the Pininfarina Battista won’t begin until at least fall 2020. The company plans to produce 150 vehicles priced between $2 and $2.5 million.

The manufacturer’s plans for the near future also include releasing an all-electric SUV, but details are scarce right now. Rumors say it might end up with a powertrain rated at 1,100 hp (820 kW).
