Volkswagen teases the new 2019 Passat

German automotive giant Volkswagen AG has released first teaser images featuring the next generation of its Passat sedan. The car will reach the U.S. market in early 2019.

Based on the images, the car has stayed true to its general design while borrowing some stylistic highlights from the Jetta and Arteon series. No changes occurred under the hood, though.

Our U.S. colleagues had an opportunity to test a pre-production copy of the Passat. They say the car received a brand new body design along with an exterior that complies with the manufacturer’s new design philosophy. The latter basically means a massive radiator grille with horizontal ribs, bold headlights and narrow taillights.

The next-gen Volkswagen Passat holds onto its previous chassis and engine (2.0L turbo good for 176 hp / 131 kW). The company offers no hybrid model this time around.

Options include an infotainment system with an 8-inch display, AEB, adaptive cruise control and LED lighting.
