Renault Espace to get a major facelift

The Renault Espace minivan has been around since 2015. The manufacturer has released a minor update for it in 2017, adding new wheels and body colors to choose from, improving the multimedia system and replacing the 200-horsepower engine with a better one rated at 225 hp (168 kW). Overall, the change list seemed a bit too insignificant to warrant an update.

Well, as it turns out, the manufacturer has been working on a much more comprehensive facelift all along! Look at these freshly made spy photos, you’ll see.

The restyled Renault Espace line gets a brand-new front bumper along with new LED headlights. According to an anonymous source, there will be changes in the engine palette as well. The current 1.6L diesel engine (160 hp / 120 kW) is no longer going to be available. The company will instead offer two 2.0L diesels rated at 160 and 200 hp (120 and 150 kW, respectively). Allegedly, it will also introduce a new 150-hp / 112-kW diesel engine to replace the low-end one with only 131 hp (98 kW).

There are no release dates available at the moment. If the company can’t get everything ready for the Geneva International Motor Show in March, then we will likely have to wait until the fall of 2019.
