The Toyota Boshoku ACES is a self-driving car that will wake you up and make you happier

The Toyota Boshoku ACES is a self-driving car that will wake you up and make you happier The vehicle is packed to the brim with state-of-the-art tech and will actually try to help the driver and passengers feel better if they’re feeling blue.

The innovative interior concept is called ACES. It will be adopted by future Toyota models certified for SAE Level 4 or 5.

The design includes a racing-style steering wheel, a holographic dashboard and cameras instead of side view mirrors. It also pioneers intelligent seats that can automatically scan a passenger’s constitution and adjust the settings (seat profile and safety belts) accordingly.

What’s even wilder, ACES can actually track the mood of everyone inside the car. Whenever the onboard computer decides that someone inside is under a psychological stress, it will emit a slight but pleasant fragrance and turn on a relaxing lighting.

All SAE Level 4 vehicles (i.e., the almost-but-not-completely self-driving ones) will benefit from another breakthrough feature. Whenever a human driver takes over direct control of the car, the system will constantly monitor his or her level of fatigue. As soon as it detects potentially dangerous levels of drowsiness, it will turn on loud music and seat vibration.

The ACES isn’t the only automotive concept Toyota Boshoku will be revealing at the CES. Its other prototype, called Moox, is a completely autonomous two-seat city car with a ‘flexible interior’ design.
