World’s first walking car debuts in Las-Vegas

South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has come to the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las-Vegas with the Elevate Concept, a vehicle equipped with robotic appendages in addition to the regular wheels.

The company says the innovative concept has no trouble moving through the worst kinds of terrain imaginable. Whenever the road surface allows, it uses its four regular wheels, but instantly switches to the robotic legs when it has to overcome an obstacle (such as a fence 2 m / 7 ft. tall, for example).

According to Hyundai, the Elevate Concept can be used in rescue missions, as a rapid delivery vehicle and by people with various disabilities. It incorporates a number of breakthrough technologies, including a self-drive feature, and utilizes the most current Hyundai EV (i.e., all-electric) powertrain. Its technical specifications are still being kept secret, though.
