Nissan Altima debuts at the Montreal Motor Show with tracks instead of wheels

Nissan has arrived at the Montreal Motor Show with an original take on its Altima sedan. The car sports tracks where it normally has wheels and serves as a promotion vehicle for the AWD car in Canada.

The unusual vehicle took Nissan engineers around 250 hours to complete. The most time-consuming part, reportedly, was conceptualizing the new body kit. The four-door sedan ended up with extreme fender flares that add 18 cm (7 inches) to each of its sides.

For those interested, the tracks are 750 mm (2.5 ft.) tall, 380 mm (1.25 ft.) wide and 1,220 mm (4 ft.) long.

The unique Nissan Ultima also gained an improved suspension design with an 80-mm (3-inch) lift.

This isn’t the first time Nissan shows us tracked modifications of its cars, some of the earlier examples being the Juke, X-Trail, Pathfinder, Murano, and 370Z.
