New BMW X3 M photos available

As you may remember, first spy shots of the updated BMW X3/Х4 M SUV series leaked online in fall 2018. Today, once again thanks to car spotters, we may finally throw a glance at the new X3 M without its test mule cladding on.

The performance SUV you see here was spotted on the iDrive infotainment system screen. Based on the photos, it features a revised front fascia design with a new bumper, a large air intake, a black kidney grille, and air vents in the front fenders. There is also a sporty-looking body kit, as well as new alloy wheels and neatly framed windows. There are also no roof railings in the upcoming new version, a move that the manufacturer justifies with ‘better aerodynamics’.

The spy shots only show us about three-fourths of the new BMW X3 M, though, with its rear hidden from view completely. Still, based on the images we’ve seen earlier, it could be assumed that the car gets a revised rear bumper, an originally-shaped spoiler, a small diffusor and a sporty four-pipe exhaust system.

Another shot shows what looks like the speedometer of the new SUV showing ‘330 km/h’ (205 mph) as the top going speed. This is likely far from being the case, though, given that even the McLaren 600LT Spider doesn’t climb that high up.

In an earlier statement, BMW said the X3 M would ship with an inline 6 engine, likely meaning the existing 3.0-liter inline 6 turbo engine capable of up to 474 hp (353 kW). If true, the car will most likely take advantage of an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new X3 M should premiere before the end of 2019.
