BMW M5 gets a large-scale upgrade from R1 Motorsport

This masterfully crafted BMW M5 (F90) certainly counts among the cars we would be most eager to show you as fine examples of well-executed tuning. While somewhat understated on the outside, the vehicle packs a formidable 760 horsepower under the hood, making it a worthy rival of many supercars out there.

R1 Motorsport has carried out the majority of the modifications. The Bavarian sports car gained an RKP body kit consisting of a sporty diffusor, a front spoiler lip, and another, trunk-mounted lip. It also received new headlights and a set of 20-inch, glossy black Performance P104SC wheels clad in Michelin tires. Overall, the visual tweaks have succeeded in highlighting the unique style of the M5 without creating any kind of jarring stylistic dissonance we sometimes see in other works. Well done, indeed!

Still, as we have hinted above, most of the novelty resides under the hood of the sports car. The tuner has swapped the stock muffler out for an Eisenmann Black Series Ceramic exhaust system sporting an X-shaped pipe layout for maximum performance. It then installed an Eventuri all-carbon intake system and reflashed the engine control unit using the DME Stage 2 power kit by DME Tuning. As a result, the output of the V8 mill rose to 750 hp (760 PS / 560 kW).

Everything seems to indicate that the owner of this particular BMW M5 is going to order a custom interior makeover. We will make sure to report if this happens, so stay tuned!
