Domaniq stuffs more horses into the Mercedes AMG GT C Edition 50

As you might remember, Mercedes-AMG released its GT C Edition 50 Coupe to celebrate its 50th birthday. In defiance of the industry-wide stereotypes, the sporty two-door vehicle quickly proved to be more than just an overpriced “anniversary edition” and occupied a market niche between the GT S and the GT R. With wide fender flares, a Panamericana front grille and 557 hp / 415 kW under the hood, it is actually quite an attractive offer.

Nevertheless, German tuner Domaniq must have decided the car was capable of much more than that. A well-executed ECU remap resulted in a boost to 650 hp / 485 kW and 870 Nm / 642 lbft of torque, bringing the anniversary model on par with the range-topping AMG GT R. The firm also pushes its electronic speed cap to 330 km/h (205 mph), which for most of us is tantamount to removing it altogether.

Among other things, the upgraded Mercedes-AMG GT C Edition 50 sports a set of Domaniq D-Forged Black Edition three-piece forged rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and rides 30 to 35 millimeters (1.2 to 1.4 inches) lower courtesy of KW coilovers.

The body of the car remains stock, unless you count tuner’s inscriptions on the hood cover and in the rear.
