The affordable Baojun 310 gets a facelift

The No. 310 is the only truly “light” passenger vehicle left in the Baojun lineup. Unlike its larger and heavier compact vans and SUVs, Baojun’s smaller models turned out quite unpopular with the Chinese clientele, forcing the manufacturer to abandon their production. The only model that survived the test of time was the entry-level hatchback Baojun 310. With around 152,000 copies of the car sold in 2018 alone, the company does not intend to discontinue it any time soon; on the contrary, it has even launched a mid-generational refresh to keep it up to date.

Baojun has only updated the five-door version of its 310 hatchback so far. It now sports a new front fascia with narrow-slit headlights and large black bumper accents. It also has different rear bumper and lights.

The interior remains unchanged. Higher trims will ship with such options as a contrast-rich trim, climate control, and a multimedia system.

In its most basic trim, the car still ships with its old 1.2-liter gas engine rated at 82 hp / 61 kW. However, it now connects to a five-speed semi-automatic transmission, rather than manual. The other pre-facelift engine, a 1.5-liter unit rated at 111 hp / 83 kW, is also available.

The 1.2L / semi-automatic version of the Baojun 310 will ship in a few weeks priced at U.S. $7,400. Other trim versions will follow soon. Their prices are not available yet, but should be generally within the same $5,600…$9100 range as before. The last version to arrive will sport the estate/wagon body style.
