Mercedes’ EQC Edition 1886 celebrates the first ICE vehicle patent issued

Mercedes-Benz has launched a special series of its all-electric EQC crossover SUV, called the ‘Edition 1886’. The car boasts slightly altered exterior and cabin.

The number 1886 sends us back to the year when the company founder Karl Benz claimed his long-awaited patent for the world’s first car powered by an internal combustion engine.

The anniversary series sports a silver paint, a black front grille, 20-inch polished wheels adorned with black inserts, and Mercedes logos and badges in the same color.

The car comes powered by its standard dual-e-motor powertrain rated at 408 hp (304 kW) and connected to an 80 kWh battery.

The cabin sports a special, freshly designed trim with seats wrapped in imitation leather and microfiber. By default, the car ships with a powerful audio system and the relaxation-oriented Energy Package. There is also a dash plaque that confirms the special status of the model.

Customers in Germany additionally get access to a few service packages and a warranty that remains valid for 8 years or 160,000 kilometers (~100,000 miles) traveled, whichever comes first. Whenever the time comes for another scheduled round of car maintenance, the company undertakes to drive your EQC Edition 1886 to the service center and then bring it back to you free of charge.
