Bonhams sells Nigel Mansell’s racecar for $3,370,000

At the latest Bonhams auction, which took place a few days ago, the unique Williams-Renault FW14B found a new owner for a record-breaking U.S. $3,370,000. The racecar used to be piloted by Formula One champion Nigel Mansell.

The year 1992 proved to be one of the most successful years in the history of the team. Nigel Mansell won the long-awaited champion title, and Williams-Renault claimed the Constructors’ Cup.

The vehicle comes powered by a purpose-built 3.5-liter Renault V10 rated at 760 horsepower (567 kilowatts). It is reported that Williams sold the car into a private collection, but the identity of the collector stays anonymous.

A 55-year-old Austin-Healey fetched $286,000 at the same auction, and a 2001 Lister Storm GT1 went for $580,000.
