2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport leaks ahead of premiere

The 2019 facelift version of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will celebrate its premiere in Thailand on Thursday, July 25, 2019. The manufacturer has only posted a few teasers of the refreshed SUV – allegedly, to maintain suspense – but then inexplicably left a few non-cladded vehicles parked in a public area. A coincidence?

However it is, the front end of the newcomer looks like that of the latest L200 truck, complete with the two-tier headlights, radiator grille and hood cover. The bumpers are new, and so is the massive trunk spoiler. The brake lights retain their original style, but the tech inside is new.

In contrast, the cabin has only superficial improvements to show for the update. There is a slightly reworked instrument cluster, a slightly changed climate control interface and a larger multimedia display, but that is about all.

Nothing is known about the planned engine palette. Depending on the country, the pre-facelift Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was available with a 136-hp (101-kW) diesel engine, its 181-hp (135-kW) counterpart and a 219-hp (163-kW) gasoline engine. The weaker diesel offered a choice between 5-gear manual and automatic, the stronger one between 6-gear manual and 8-gear auto, and the gas burner came bundled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Authorized dealers in Thailand have already received their first SUVs, so sales should begin straight after the premiere.
