Bosch introduces innovative 3D dash design

Bosch has introduced an automobile dashboard design that might find use in the coming few years. The instrument cluster is represented by a 3D display that works its magic without any kind of 3D glasses.

The innovation uses what the company calls ‘Passive 3D’. Essentially, it is a dual-frame overlay screen that provides for much greater data density compared to traditional display designs. According to the manufacturer, the 3D image may also be very helpful in cases when the driver needs to get directions quickly, such as when passing a difficult multi-level road junction.

Bosch never provided any estimates concerning the market launch, but said it was ready to discuss implementations of the tech with car manufacturers. It added that its passive 3D display can be adapted to any existing traditional type, size and shape of dashboard.
