Car Tuning

AC/Shelby Cobra lives again as a 1,200HP super coupe

What car is this? Looks not unlike a Wiesmann GT MF 5, right? Well, the truth is much more exciting. It’s a Cobra, one of the wickedest, and it devours those 507-hp strong Wiesmanns for breakfast.

German tuner CN Fahrzeugbau GmbH takes credit for the atrocity. The base vehicle is the famous AC/Shelby Cobra, a British open-top sports car originally designed with racing applications in mind. This particular example sports a fixed hardtop, slim sides and a wide rear. And we’ve got to admit, this looks like the first truly successful attempt to make a coupe out of the Cobra.

The true highlight of the build lies hidden under the hood, though. The monstrous GM V8 mill comes equipped with a Whipple supercharger that sticks out of the hood and delivers insane 1,200 horsepower (895 kilowatts) along with 1,080 Nm (797 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels. The six-speed stick shift (Tremec) and Brembo six-piston brakes just about manage under the strain.

Wrapping things up is a splendid interior makeover involving lots of natural leather and smoky-grey Alcantara adorned with yellow stitching for contrast. The vanilla-style steering wheel and dashboard are in top condition.

Looks like we’ve got ourselves a good candidate for the ‘best Cobra tuning project ever’ award, don’t you think?
