Huracan becomes the most mass-produced Lamborghini

The 14,022th Lamborghini Huracan has just rolled off the luxury carmaker’s assembly lines in Saint Agatha Bolognese, Italy, thus becoming the most widely produced Lambo car in history.

The Huracan series has dethroned its predecessor, Gallardo, which used to be manufactured between 2003 and 2013, despite the fact that it has only been in production since 2014.

The series is undergoing a mid-generational refresh now. The facelifted Huracan Evo and Spyder debuted earlier this year, packing updated 5.2-liter V10 engines rated at 640 hp (477 kW). The standard RWD coupes and high-end Performante versions are still in the works.

The Huracan will likely not hold its leadership for long, and the reason is simple: Urus. Lambo started shipping its first SUV in 2018 and has sold 1,761 units that year, followed by another 2,693 units this year – and the demand appears to be steadily growing. If the trends continue, the Huracan has two or three years left before the Urus inevitably comes ahead of it as the most popular model in the range.
