The new Weltmeister EX6 Plus is EX5 plus extended rear

Following the debut of the Weltmeister EX6 Concept last year (see the gallery), the Chinese carmaker Weltmeister unveiled its final production version at Auto Guangzhou. The SUV gets the ‘Plus’ suffix to its name and essentially looks like its junior sibling, the EX5 (see the video), except for the longer rear overhang.

Both cars share the same wheelbase (2,703 mm / 8.87 ft.), but at 4,802 mm (15.75 ft.) long, the body of the EX6 Plus is 217 mm (8.5”) longer than that of the EX5. The newcomer is also 1,839 mm (6.03 ft.) wide and 1,710 mm (5.61 ft.) tall.

Interestingly enough, while the EX6 Plus traded the video cameras its concept version had for traditional side mirrors, it has retained the slide-out door handle design. As for the cabin, though, everything is identical to the EX5, including the 12.8-inch display.

The car comes equipped with a single-option electric motor good for 218 hp (163 kW) and 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) of torque. A 69-kWh battery grants it up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) of NEDC-rated range.
