Lexus LC 500 sheds roof in the new version

Lexus has unveiled the LC 500 Convertible. Soft-top aside, the changes are extensive, so let us have a closer look.

The body received structural reinforcements, and the suspension had to be tweaked on the front axle to account for the added load.

The soft top consists of four layers of fabric and takes 16 seconds to extend and 15 to fold down. The climate control now focuses its efforts on the upper part of the interior, and the headrests boat in-built neck warmers.

Powering the LC 500 Convertible is the same old 5.0 V8 with 477 hp (356 kW) and 540 Nm (400 pound-feet) at the crank. The transmission is ten-speed automatic, and the 0-60 time remains undisclosed.

Sales in the United States will begin next summer. The initial batch will be called Inspiration and consist of 100 vehicles painted vivid blue, fitted with larger 21-inch wheels, and trimmed with white semi-aniline leather.
