Lucid Motors will undercut Tesla Model S sales in 2020

The California-based car company will be bringing its sedan-shaped Air EV to the market next year and is already taking requests for pre-orders.

To facilitate this, Lucid Motors is constructing a new factory in Arizona, which will specialize in all-electric car production and should employ around 4,800 people by 2030.

The Air will have four touch-sensitive displays inside: three directly in front of the driver and one on the center console. It will come powered by dual electric motors jointly rated at 1,000 hp (745 kilowatts). This should enable it to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and max out at 350 km/h (217.5 mph). Once fully charged, the range will amount to 400 miles (645 kilometers). This makes it a worthy alternative to Tesla’s Model S, although the prices will likely be higher.

So far, Lucid Motors has mostly been known as the supplier of traction batteries for the Formula E racing series.
