SAIC slates yet another EV for Beijing premiere

SAIC Group will be attending the Auto Beijing show on April 21-30, 2020 with an all-electric variant of its Roewe i6 sedan.

The car is called ‘Ei6’, which may cause some confusion because the manufacturer already has a model named ‘ei6’ on the lineup. The latter is a plug-in hybrid available since its premiere in 2017.

The Ei6 notably features a completely redesigned front end. The brand name is spelled out in letters where the logo had been, the headlights use LED matrix tech, and there is an autopilot radar located under the number plate. Slight edits were made to the brake lights, the rear bumper and the trunk lid, and charger ports are conveniently located in both front fenders.

The dimensions of the electric version remain unknown. The ei6 hybrid mentioned above is 4,671 mm (15.32 ft.) long, 1,835 mm (6.02 ft.) wide and 1,460 mm (4.79 ft.) tall with 2,715 mm (8.91 ft.) between the axles.

The electric powertrain specs also go unannounced so far. The ei6 Plus currently ships with a total of 305 hp (227 kW) and 480 Nm (356 lb-ft) of torque under the hood, which enables it to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.5 seconds and max out at 200 km/h (124 mph).
