2020 Skoda Rapid facelift revealed in China

The international version of the Skoda Rapid liftback (see video) saw a mid-life refresh in late 2019, and the Chinese version follows suit today.

The car boasts major exterior changes, but the cabin and the powertrain stay largely neglected.

The Rapid ships in two body styles in China: sedan/saloon and liftback. The latter has gone through a redesign and now looks a bit like the Skoda Scala for Europe. The body dimensions stay exactly the same, though, the sedan being 4,512 mm (14.8 feet) long and the Rapid Spaceback 4,312 mm (14.15 ft.) long. The wheelbase also remains unchanged at 2,603 mm (8.54 ft.).

Interior novelty boils down to reshaped air deflectors, red trim accents, absence of hardware buttons on the infotainment panel, and a slightly larger infotainment screen.

The same 1.5-liter non-turbo I4 powers the Rapid for China, sending up to 110 hp (82 kW) to the wheels by means of a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Sales should begin soon, although the date is not available.
