Volkswagen teases the new Golf GTI

Two performance-heavy Golfs debut in early March: the diesel-chugging GTD and the gas-powered GTI. The former was teased a couple days ago, and the latter joins it today.

Based on the pics, the two cars have plenty in common. In fact, the badge and the signature red strip between the headlights are the only things that make the GTI stand out.

The eighth-gen Golf GTD comes rated at 200 hp (150 kW), while the GTI sits above it with 245 hp (183 kW). The GTI TCR will join the lineup later with 300 hp (224 kW), and the range-topping Golf R AWD will get 333 hp (248 kW) and 400 hp (298 kW) variants.

Both the GTI and the GTD will likely debut on the Volkswagen Night, an event scheduled hours ahead of the Geneva IMS 2020.
