Bentley puts the oldest V8 6.75 out of production for good

Gone is the era: the Bentley factory in Crewe, England has put together its last 6¾-liter V8 engine designed way back in 1959 to replace the outdated V6 designs. Back then, the Bentley S2 was the first vehicle to make use of it.

Throughout the 61 years of production, the mill gradually ascended from its original 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts) to 537 hp (400 kW) and cut its emission profile by a whopping 99 percent. Around 36,000 units were produced all in all.

The last engine will soon become part of one of the thirty Bentley Mulsanne 6.75 Mulliner luxury saloons, a farewell edition of the Mulsanne model. With it gone, the Flying Spur will be the marque’s flagship for the time being.
