Chevy Corvette for Europe packs more options and a hefty price tag

Chevrolet has announced the pricing for its EU-spec Corvette, and more than a few customers are not particularly happy, despite the higher trim standard.

The Corvette coupe will start from €99,000 when it begins shipping in the second half of 2021, and the roadster will set you back €106,000 or more. Both correspond to the U.S. Launch Edition spec, which includes expensive adaptive suspension, among other things. However, the extra charge is still quite hefty: U.S. customers can get the same spec for around $78,000, which translates to under €70,000.

Furthermore, entry-level ‘Vettes will not be available in Europe. To give you an example, the base spec for Germany will include the entire Z51 option package with its adjustable suspension, Brembo brakes, electronic differential, a premium exhaust system, and a plethora of other pricey features.

The important thing to note here is that even at this price point, the new C8 Corvette still looks like a better bargain than most of its Old World competition. For instance, the Porsche 911 Carrera S starts from €120,000 in Germany and only churns out 450 hp (336 kW). The BMW M850i xDrive packs superior 530 hp (395 kW), but retails for €127,000+.
