Mercedes-Benz launches the 2021 CLS

Following the launch of the updates E-Class sedan and wagon, Mercedes-Benz has slightly refreshed its CLS 4-Door Coupe lineup. Customers in Europe will get a choice from four versions: 220d (RWD), 400d, 450, and Mercedes-AMG CLS 53+ (AWD).

The cars are now obtainable in two new color schemes called Mojave and High-tech. Other than that, the exterior stays unchanged. Inside, the MBUX infotainment system gets an update to the latest version and is available with dual 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch displays. The all-around view camera system now benefits from wider view angles, and the CLS 400d spec gains an extra 10 horsepower, bringing the total to 340 hp (254 kW).

The blind zone monitor system now signals about potential danger when opening doors. The automatic emergency brake that is part of the Driving Assistance package automatically decelerates the CLS if the car up ahead turns to the left. The autopilot can now resume automatic driving after standing still for more than a minute in a traffic jam. Active cruise control gets real-time online information about the traffic situation in the area and slows the car down before roundabouts and intersections. A special capacity censor now ensures that the driver keeps his/her hands on the steering wheel in Autopilot mode. Urban Guard and Urban Guard Plus monitor the situation around the car to prevent hijacking and theft attempts.

The refreshed 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS is already available for purchase in Europe, while other countries will have to wait until later in the year.
