Lamborghini teases something “ahead of its time”, reveal due on July 8

The Italian supercar maker has posted a teaser photo promising to reveal something unique and “ahead of its time”. The event will be broadcast online at 16:00 UTC on July 8, 2020.

Most news agencies seem to agree that the presentation will be dedicated to the successor to Lamborghini’s first hybrid vehicle, the Sian (watch the video for a quick introduction).

The first-gen Sian came powered by a 6.5-liter V12 rated at 785 PS (774 hp, or 577 kW) and a small-time (34hp / 25kW) electric motor directly attached to the axle. This was the first time a hybrid car made use of a direct-drive motor not integrated into any kind of common transmission. This enabled the Sian to reverse and coast on electric power alone. It was also the first supercar ever to draw its power from a high-end supercapacitor instead of a conventional traction battery.
