Jay Leno tells the world about his 770HP Ford Bronco

While Ford gets ready to ship its revived Bronco series, famous U.S. comedian and car collector Jay Leno filmed a video dedicated to his original 1968 Bronco restored and tuned to top driving condition.

The car’s most impressive feature lies under the hood. A 5.2-liter Shelby GT500 V8 toils there in tandem with a custom five-speed manual transmission, hitting the wheels with 770 hp (574 kW). Ford does not ship the GT500 engine in crate form, so this one had to be scavenged from a Mustang. To put things into perspective, consider that the original Bronco had around 100 hp (75 kW) under the hood and was still considered quite punchy in its era.

On the outside, the car looks nearly stock, and the cabin also stays as true to the original as possible. This even includes the steering wheel and the roll bar, while the light-brown seat upholstery and infotainment system are new.

Jay Leno says he has only spent three months working on this Bronco.
