Mercedes-Benz EQS spied testing alongside two Teslas

Following the announcement two years ago and the Vision EQS Concept reveal last year, Mercedes-Benz’ most powerful EV is finally nearing production. Today, the car was spotted in a very unusual kind of company.

The latest shots expose the camouflage-clad liftback riding on what looks like a suburban road next to a Tesla Model S and a Tesla Model 3. The only possible explanation we have for this is that Mercedes really wants to make sure its EV stands up to the competition.

The EQS will utilize the proprietary platform known as Modular Electric Architecture and have up to 700 kilometers (435 miles) of range. It will feature dual electric motors mounted one per axle for an AWD setup, 4WS, and batteries with rapid charge support.

Mercedes had hoped to begin shipping the EQS early next year, but Covid-19 ruined those plans, too; no new estimations were given.
