Are you a fan of classical American muscle cars? Then consider skipping this article – it may hurt you on many levels.
According to Westen Champlin, the owner of the uncanny ride, he just wanted his Mustang to be truly unique. Body kit, wheels, suspension – nothing did it for him, so he decided to go all-out and swap it for… a Cummins diesel, no less!
Champlin makes no mention of the actual power of the mill in question – it is quite sidebar, after all – but mentions the difficulties he encountered while implementing the project. Among other things, he had to reorganize the entire engine bay and reroute the entire wiring. Even when he succeeded in squeezing the giant mill into the bay, the hood cover never quite managed to close shut, so he ditched the idea and threw in a turbocharger for good measure. Oh, and we are sure you haven’t missed that infernal exhaust stovepipe sticking from under the hood. Why bother, right?
Rounding off the project is the front bodywork and bumper Champlin seems to have borrowed from a Mustang Shelby GT500.
