Rumor: Range Rover EV debut delayed due to the pandemic

The fourth-generation Range Rover is quite a market veteran with eight years since release, and a successor should be coming up soon. However, Jaguar Land Rover once again pushed back the reveal – allegedly because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The fifth-gen SUV takes advantage of the unitized MLA platform (stands for Modular Longitudinal Architecture), which supports mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full-electric powertrains. The upcoming Jaguar XJ uses the same technological base.

Both the new Range Rover and the Jaguar XJ had been set to premiere in August or September 2020, but now, October and November are being tentatively named as the launch timeframe.

No technical specs are available so far. Production is scheduled to start at the recently upgraded JLR factory in Castle Bromwich, Solihull Administrative Borough, England.
