Infiniti QX60 Monograph hints at a next-gen production SUV

Infiniti started the tradition of “Monograph” concept cars three and a half years ago, when it premiered its QX80 Monograph model destined to become a production car shortly afterwards. The same fate awaits it latest concept: the QX60 Monograph.

Only the exterior has been revealed so far. The design team obviously drew its inspiration from Japanese traditional culture, referencing kimono, origami and its other aspects. Overall, the Monograph version looks simpler than the first-gen QX60, getting rid of complex elements such as the curved c-pillars.

Nothing is being revealed about the interior or the drivetrain. The crossover SUV will most probably keep its transverse engine layout and front-wheel drive. The old V6 and CVT may also carry over into the next generation, but a new entry-level spec might emerge based on the 2.0-liter turbo-four mill of the QX50.

The former QX60 (JX) debuted nine years ago and hit the market in 2012. It has since gone through two updates and still holds the title of Infiniti’s most popular vehicle in the United States with around 43,000 sold units out of the marque’s 118,000 total.
