Fiat Strada cosplays as the Ram 700 again

Ram has published a teaser pic announcing the next generation of its 700 pickup truck. The car is essentially an ever-so-slightly redesigned Fiat Strada featured in our gallery and the video here.

The second-gen Strada hit the market in Brazil (country of origin), Uruguay and Argentina this spring. Outside of the three abovementioned markets, the model is known as the Ram 700, which is only now coming into its second generation. The first iteration was identical except for the manufacturer’s badge; the new one will introduce a different radiator grille styled in accordance with Ram’s latest design guidelines. Other than that, no other changes are expected.

For its own part, the Strada lineup comes based on the old Fiorino platform and tech. The Argo and Mobi hatchbacks also use the same platform. It has McPherson suspension at the front end and a solid beam with springs at the rear. Certain design cues stem from the larger-sized Fiat Toro. One big novelty comes in the form of a four-door Crew Cab version, which is larger than the old Double Cab design. The four-door cab version can carry up to 650 kilograms (1,433 lbs) of cargo, while the two-door one can haul 720 kg (1,587 lbs).

The lineup comes powered by 1.3- and 1.4-liter engines rated at 101 hp (76 kW) and 88 hp (66 kW), respectively. Both use five-speed manual transmission, but on the plus side, differential gear with an electronic diff lock is listed under standard features. Other highlights include LED headlamps, side airbags, a multimedia system, a reversing camera, and an air conditioner.
