The most powerful Porsche Panamera is a hybrid

The Porsche Panamera family received an update in August, but the German sports car maker did not show us all the versions back then. Today, let us take a closer look at the two remaining hybrids and the gas-powered 4S spec.

The topmost Turbo S E-Hybrid gets to keep its 136-PS (134-hp / 100-kW) electric motor, but ramps up the gasoline engine power from 550 to 571 PS (563 hp / 420 kW). As a result, it now zaps from nothing to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds instead of 3.4 s and maxes out at 315 km/h (195.7 mph). Its battery grows larger and can now store 17.9 kilowatt-hours of energy instead of 14.1 kWh, translating into a 30% boost in electric range (now 50 km / 31 miles according to the WLTP test cycle).

The more affordable 4 E-Hybrid spec also gets an update to its 2.9-liter six-cylinder hybrid powertrain. A larger battery gives it up to 56 km (35 miles) of WLTP range, the sprint takes 4.4 seconds instead of 4.6 s, and the top speed now amounts to 280 km/h (174 mph). Drivers will also appreciate the assorted suspension and stability control improvements, the manufacturer reports.

As for the Panamera 4S, which ships with a 2.9-liter six-cylinder and 440 PS (434 hp / 324 kW), this spec now includes the Sport Chrono package at no added cost. It needs 4.1 seconds for the sprint (down by 0.1 s) and can hit 295 km/h (183 mph).
