Drag Race: BMW M240i vs. Porsche 911 vs. M3 Competition

Can the wallet-friendly BMW M240i Coupe hold its own against the Porsche 911 Carrera S on a half-mile strip? No way! But what if we tune it? Same answer, perhaps, but let’s give it a chance.

The stock M240i (F22) can produce 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) along with up to 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque, which it sends to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The latest Carrera S is much better off initially with 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) hitting the rear axle via an eight-speed PDK semi-auto gearbox.

However, the specific Bavarian coupe featured in the video basks in tuner love, showing 490 PS (483 hp / 360 kW) at the dyno test, which translates into roughly 570 PS (562 hp / 419 kW) at the crank. Not so bad now, eh?
