An exotic BMW M1 evaluated at £435k goes on sale in the UK

Silverstone Auctions will be holding a sale in Great Britain on November 14 dedicated to – among other things – this rare BMW M1 sports car with a celebrity background. The owner might actually be justified in asking £435,000 for it.

First, BMW Motorsport has only produced 453 such cars, outfitting each with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine capable of 281 PS (277 hp / 207 kW) and 324 Nm (239 lb-ft) of torque.

Second, the first owner of the car was Boney M founder Frank Farian, who bought it forty years ago and held onto it for around a decade. Later on, the vehicle changed hands three times, ending up in private collections. The last owner and the poster of the auction lot brought the exotic ride to this year’s Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance.

Finally, Farian outfitted the M1 with a full body kit inspired by Procar Monocup racers. The vehicle ended up with unique 17-inch wheels and an enormous rear wing. It remains unknown whether there are other M1s out there sporting the same range of mods.
