SSC suspected of falsifying the Tuatara record

The historical speed record for production cars recently claimed by the SSC Tuatara is attracting criticism and controversy right now, sceptics pointing out numerous inconsistencies.

The video from the inside of the hypercar is supposed to be the main proof of its smashing through the 500 km/h (310 mph) mark, but independent experts have found multiple flaws in it. Among other things, it is claimed that the telemetry data reported on the car’s Dewetron display clashes with the speed with which the surroundings change around the car as it zaps towards the record. Multiple experts have called foul play on the record.

Curiously enough, Tuatara called upon Dewetron to publicly confirm the integrity of the data shown in the video, but the telemetry provider denied comment. Just what this could imply remains to be seen, of course, but an explanation is due, if not overdue.

Overall, it looks like the only remaining chance for Tuatara to save its face in the situation would be to repeat the record-breaking run with competent third parties invited as observers.
