Mercedes V-Class rides on air

Buyers of the latest Mercedes V-Class may now opt for the manufacturer’s Airmatic suspension if they want to maximize comfort compared to the previously available Sports and Adaptive options.

The new feature enables flexible ride height adjustment, and the manufacturer claims the height stays at the selected level regardless of the load. Adaptive shocks can adjust themselves to a variety of road surfaces on a per-wheel basis.

The Comfort and Manual suspension modes come with the standard pre-set clearance, but it will automatically drop by 10 mm (0.2”) whenever you accelerate past 110 km/h (68 mph). The Lift mode raises the height by 35 mm (1.4”), and the Sports mode drops it to a reasonable minimum.
