Meet Ginetta G55 GTA, a comparatively affordable track day tool

After opening a subsidiary in Virginia, USA, British niche automaker Ginetta has announced the production of its first entry-level model there, the G55 GTA.

The coupe joins the company of the rather more extreme G55 GT4 and G55 SuperCup – watch the video if you need an idea. It is an entry-level track projectile that rides on 20-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, has a so-so engine, weighs quite a bit and lacks automatic diff locks. On the plus side, it comes with an air conditioner and noise proofing.

The chassis is FIA homologated, and the basic trim includes a Motec dashboard along with a VBOX Lite system for telemetry and video recording. Paid options include a second seat, carbon fiber trim details, and master classes led by Ginetta racing drivers.

The coupe weighs in at 1.1 metric tons (2,425 lbs). Its 3.7-liter Ford V6 churns out 274 hp (204 kW) and 405 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque. The G55 SuperCup is much more powerful at 360 hp (268 kW), and so is the G55 GT4 at 385 hp (287 kW). A six-speed sequential Quaife transmission sends the momentum to the rear wheels.

Prices begin from U.S. $99,950.
